Corn continued to have quiet overnight trade which extended into the day session as we meandered through a 4 cent trading range. Exports remain a non-factor. Planters are rolling in the WCB and some think that central Illinois might be 50% planted by weeks end. Ground temperatures are reported to be perfect for germination and we should see normal emergence based on these temperatures. For the week May corn lost 4 cents, while December lost 3 cents. Corn returned to the middle of its 3-month, 25 cent trading range today. Tuesday punished the bulls and rewarded the bear. 48 hours later, the tables are turned. This truly looks like a market searching for direction. 500 Point Trading Range is an Average Week in the Dow
Just taking the first 12 weeks of 2015, the average weekly trading range for the Dow has been 500 points. The biggest range came on the first week of February, sparked by the January Unemployment number. That week DJM had a 920 point trading range. This current week has had the second widest trading range of 661 points… So FAR. I say so far because Friday we have a half day/ Good Friday.
